Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) Programme

Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) Programme.

Today H.E The Governor Amason Kingi together with H.E The British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey and the Head of  DFID Kenya,  Julius Court witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Kilifi County Government and the Department for International Development (DFID) Kenya.

The ceremony was held at the County Assembly of Kilifi, in Malindi and was witnessed by County Assembly of Kilifi Honourable Members among others.

The Sustainable Urban Economic Development Programme (SUED) is supported by the British Government through the Department of International Development (DFID). The programme is working with 10 municipalities including Malindi to help them develop sustainable urban economic plans and attract investment for critical infrastructure and high potential value chain projects.  SUED has been working with Malindi Municipality for almost two months to strengthen their capacity to better plan for urbanisation by developing integrated and sustainable plans to spur inclusive growth hubs of the future. With SUED’s support the County leadership has held consultative meetings to begin to identify some of the key areas for economic growth for the municipality. As part of its technical assistance, DFID prides itself in carrying out learning visits to implementation sites for supported programs such as SUED.
